Academy Standards
The Gold Coast Surf Academy operates with Safety Standards and council regulated licenses with approved equipment. The curriculum is continually being developed through the correct coaching and consultant assessment. Additional classes have recently been added to including reef surfing and elite coaching for intermediate and above surfers. The curriculum follows a step .by step progression through the essential surfing skills required to allow continual improvement. Classes include surfing skills, correct equipment choices, understanding wave and ocean conditions, along with surf etiquette and safety.
Our Staff
Our coaches are trained professionals. The Gold Coast Surf Academy goes to great lengths in supplying training for its staff, including council regulated Certificates for Advanced Resuscitation, Senior First Aid, Board Rescue, Level 1 or 2 Surfing Queensland or Australian National Training Authority (ANTA) Coaching Certificates along with Child Protection Blue Cards, Emergency Procedures, service plans and curriculum training. The Coaching, training program is based on an apprenticeship format, with necessary amounts of hours and skills to be achieved to graduate them from level to level. The Management is always available for personal requests or enquires.
Safety and Equipment
The equipment is specifically designed for learning and to protect the student from injury. Every coach has a minimum of 5 years surfing experience. All coaches hold current First Aid, Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation Certification along with a Surf Rescue Certificate and Level 1 Surf Coach Certificate with Surfing Queensland or the Australian National Training Authority. Safety is the foremost importance at the Gold Coast Surf Academy with a student to staff ratio of 8 to l.

Academy facilities
The Gold Coast Surf Academy offers excellent facilities including car parking and shaded rest areas. Student facilities include public showers and changing rooms and lockers for any valuables. For those wishing to watch the Academy activities there is the added advantage of having the Kurrawa Surf Club's fine Bistro restaurant upstairs to watch the lessons, or relax after the lessons over looking the ocean at the fully licensed bar. The Kurrawa Surf Club has been awarded the Supporters Club of the Year for the last 3 years and offers the travelling family a splendid atmosphere to relax and enjoy the view.
Insurance and Medical
The Academy has $10,000,000 Public Liability insurance cover with Action Insurance Brokers that is Gold Coast City Council approved. All of our coaches have current Senior First Aid Certificates and are trained in Surf Rescue and CPR with current certificates.
Transport
Our fleet of vehicles features: Air conditioning, radio tape decks, CB radios, connecting them to the reception and emergency services from far away, surf racks for client's boards, First Aid kits and fire extinguishes in case of emergencies. Our drivers are highly trained and offer free of charge transport for students to and from their hotel or accommodation. These same vehicles are for visiting point breaks and surf guiding and supplying mobile support in case of any emergency.
