The Instructors
Gold Coast Surf Academy has three professional surf instructors to make sure you are getting the best tips and hints! We will teach you all the surfing techniques but we also place great emphasis on water safety and surf etiquette.

Here is a quick rundown on the qualifications and qualities of each of the coaches:
Johnny Preston (Chief Instructor)
Jonny is internationally renouned surf coach and consultant and part developer of the Rip Curl School of Surf in Bali. He is the inventer of the grading system that is now commonly used throughout Australia's top surf schools! His qualifications are:


- Gold Coast Masters Champion 2001-2002, 2004-2005

- QLD Masters Champion 2004-2005

- Surf Coach Certificate

- Bronze Medallion

- Advanced Resuscitation

- Senior First Aid

- Level 3 Fitness Instructor

- Level 4 Assessment and Workplace Training

- Level 2 Surf Coaching under Surf Life Saving
Jacqueline Graham
Jacqueline contributes an immense input into the academy's female squad. Her qualifications are:

- Current Australian open womens champion

- Surfing Queensland contest director for all womens events

- Level 2 Judge for Surfing Australia

- Level 1 Surf Coach

Phil Gregory
Phil has great knowledge of teaching beginner, intermediate and elite surfers. His qualifications are:

- Level 2 Surf Coach

- Level 2 Surf Contest Judge with Surfing Australia

- Gold Coast City Council Professional Lifeguard
Madeline Taylor
Madeline has just recently been crowned Australia's University Open Champion. Her qualifications are:

- Level 2 Surf Coach

- Level 2 Judge for Surfing Australia

- Health science, Excercise science and Physio degrees

Rodger Young

Roger has extremely good knowledge of delivering water safety and surf knowledge to all students that participate. His qualifications are:
