Daily Updates

Due to deep gutter conditions from broadbeach to surfers paradise all Gold Coast Surf Academy operations have been to santa monica st Miami beach.

The conditions are well worth it so if you want to get out of Surfers paradise for the morning we can pick you up and take you to a great little spot in Miami. and give you a little tour of the local side of the coast.

The numbers at the Academy are small so the quality is high, its been the best time of the year to learn to surf also with clean offshore conditions and small beginner friendly sized waves.

So if you are still thinking about it dont hesitate.

The banks we now have to work are well above average standard so its even better to come and learn to to surf the right way with the Academy.

The conditions have been very clean with small cleans swells making it even better to give this a try.

NIPPER SURF GROMS

Had a great day in Byron last sunday completing the 4th and 5th session at the the pass. the general traffic flow of surfing a point break and getting in the line up was a great new experience in which they got from the course. along with having to walk back and not wear yourself out paddling back.

Have seen some great progress from improving their surfing to generally being more aware of the general works which surf brings on any particular day.

The final session will be at Kurrawa on Sunday the 28th of April at 7 .45 to be on the beach at 8 am. conditions will be small and clean.

The sand is marching back in so its taking shape again for the winter ahead.the water temp is still 24 degrees but wetsuits are now needed to fend off the wind chill. been seeing some great rides with  valuable skills taken away to be used elsewhere in their quest to learn to surf.

The 3 day course have been a hit with some valuable skills taught and practised, New Zealanders are on their with the school holidays so its looking good for them hitting the coast.

MONDAY 8TH APRIL 2013

Had a great day with the nipper surf groms down at Kirra on the sunday with some picture perfect waves with long rides.

Gave out some t shirts for the best wipeouts from the previous weeks at Kurrawa. t shirts seem to take the fear out of getting wipeouted.     seems to work.

Progress was made, frustration and fatigue was experienced with the paddling. and the skill drills are improving. well done everyone.

Things have calmed down finally so its loking the goods for the easter holidays makers, water temp still 24 degrees and very slowly dropping, still no wetsuits in sight but they are looking out of the cupboard though wanting to know when they get a turn in the water.

Meeting alot of people that are at a common sticking point in their surfing with needing help on going that little further and being able to know how to take the drops on a an unbroken face wave.

Good to know what to work to work before you work on it.

Got some new fresh staff coming through and showing some eagerness to enhance their skills in teaching surfing.

Breath of fresh air

Enjoy the week

Be happy and be good

Well the beaches have been getting worked with the constant uneven weather of late.

The Academy has been moving around to as far south as Kirra for a more even bank as we did and maybe tommorrow. the banks has a more even setup to get the better rides.

20 mins travellling but its worth it. its definatly getting closer to the good times again thats for certain.

You gotta be careful  on the open beaches with the ripsbeing some of the nastiest i have seen in a long time and its this reason the most beach have been closed on the northern end.

If you are learning, let this weather settle, if you are just a beginner we can find some waves to suit you with the proper tuition and being mid chest level in the water on the right tide time of the day.

we are fussy when we we do our, the classes are small but the quality is high.
