Surfs back on up here, water back the crystal clear form and is still 24 degrees in the water. the sandbanks have behaved themselves also and have produced some good rides for the beginners coming to the Academy wanting to learn to surf or just passing through wanting to just try it.
Getting lots of the 3 day courses done which has students leave with some basic knowledges of the mechanics of it all.

Have had a few days off with the weather on the coast but the trees have passed and the debris from the river is now on the beach and ready to be cleaned up by the council. glads thats over.
Its all back with some great new banks to be surfed along the beaches

The school holiday are finally coming to an end and do hope some good fun was had. the beach conditions has kept everyone honest with some fast moving sand between the large surfs and windy conditions. Still the best place to be though the gold coast, plenty to do.
Been some nice pockets of sandbanks for the young ones to get the basics of surfing and water tepm is still 25 degrees.
The rain and sunshine has produced some steamy condions of late. so the familys from NSW and Victoria have a good week for they kick off school.
The 3 lesson courses and gift certificates have been are getting used up in a good manner also.
No matter how hard a surf may for a student its still makes there next surf better.
You have to go through fatigue and frustration before you get to an intermediate stage, its called surf fitness.

Great to see the Uni students back on the program with the new semester just starting, had some great waves yesterday afternoon to start on and we find its also a great way for everyone to formally introduce themselves in a totally fun manner whilst learning to surf.
Well we have been finally seeing better sandbanks appear along the beach which has greatly benefited the 3 day courses covering from just standing and riding to the beach, to creating speed on a wave whilst turning.
The 3 day courses have been popular over the school holidays at the Academy, its a good time to get the %15 off all Rip Curl merchandise cards also.
If you want the best learn to surf experience, we give you the best tim to learn to surf times. Our lessons times are tailor made to have students get the maximum benefit out of each days tide times. we dont do it at any time, we do it at the best time.
All INTERMDIATE BEGINNERS
The unbroken take offs you may be working on can be achieved when the tide is 2 hrs before or after the high tide mark.
Paddling is most essentual component to surfing and its gears must be used to out paddle the lift it gives you prior to having to get to your feet.
I do private lessons just on this method with some good easy to follow steps that will cut your learning time in half, along with some easy techniques on stances and turning.

Am just getting the end of the Sunset crew 6 week course fro the more intermediate surfers that are progressing through the Academy.
Had a great day in byron yesterday at the pass, introducing some of them some peeling waves, surf nice and Grom friendly.
May be doing another 6 week grom course for this intermediate group in febuary.
PUBLIC LESSONS
Have been doing some great 3 day courses with alot of the holiday makers and getting some great results with some long rides from to the back in the small conditions in which the coast has been having of late.
Water temp is a nice 24 degrees.
Been alot of sand on the beach so we have been very particular in doing the these lessons close to the high tide.
We tailor all our lesson times for every student gets the maximum benefit of each days tide times.

The 6th and final Surf groms lesson was today and its unfortunate the strong southerly winds said hello to us early in the day.
The Sunset Crew Groms will be contacted and given a time and place to do their work on the unbroken takeoffs work, could be Burleigh early one morning. you will be informed.
PUBLIC LESSONS
We will be conducting learn to surf lesson as usual now that the swell has eased, we have some 3 day courses to be had and do look forward to catering for all the holiday makers now on the coast and have been patient with the large surf conditions, it will be worth it.
If you cant contact me on the phone its because i,m on the beach, but will get back to you i promise within a short period and arrange a time to teach you some surfing.

All learn to surf lessons are postponed until wednesday the 28th december due to the heavy swell, we must wait for it to clean itself up and then its all systems go, the weather and decresing swell will give us a perfect combination of the beach environment, water temp is a perfect 22degrees.
All eager participants must be patient.

I will be making a call for the Aloha team only to resume their 4th Surf groms lesson at 1pm by tonight at 7 pm, please keep updated but its , a good chance we will be surfing tomorrow at 1 pm.

SURF GROMS
The sunset groms had a great day at burleigh today working the rip in a nice small manner with some progression by all.
The Aloha and Sunset Groms will be meeting at the surf club for their 3 rd lesson of the course at 9 am tomorrow thursday the 22nd, we are having a little break for xmas after that and starting again on the 27th.
PUBLIC LEARN TO SURF
Have had some great lessons over the last week with some of the holiday makers getting the most out of the 3 day course. Alot of Familys are finding its also a great thing to do with the children.
Water temp is a glorius 23 degrees.
If i cant answer my phone i must be on the beach but will definatly get back to with 2 hrs of the call, we have lessons all over the holidays and lesson times specifically designed to get the maximum benefit out of each days tide times.
